Using the Site- Overview
Training | Using the Architecture | Planning Process
Welcome to the Virginia DOT (VDOT) Northern Virginia (NoVA)-Centric ITS
Architecture. This website provides access to the NoVA Regional ITS Architecture
for stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the interfaces between
VDOT systems in Northern Virginia and other transportation systems in the
region as they plan their projects.
Several resources are available to assist the viewer with navigating and
using the architecture. In this section of the website, the viewer can review
an on-line multi-media flash tutorial on how and when to use the architecture.
Click on Using the architecture link to learn more about using the NoVA ITS Architecture including how it fits with the overall planning process and to understand the relationships between the NoVA regional architecture and adjoining ITS architectures in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
VDOT NoVA District also occasionally schedules a day-long hands-on training course on using NoVA ITS Architecture. Click on the training link to register for information about upcoming classes and announcements.
Overall Site Navigation
The site is set up so the navigation buttons on the left side of the screen are always available to you to move from one feature of the site to another easily. The Navigating the Architecture tab provides the actual Architecture definition and let the viewer explore the architecture in detail. The architecture can also be downloaded in Turbo Architecture database format by clicking the Turbo Db tab.
Upon project deployment, "as deployed" project information can be submitted for incorporation into the NoVA ITS Architecture definition by clicking on the Maintaining the Architecture tab.
To learn more about the NoVA ITS Architecture Development and about ITS in general, click on Background which includes FAQs, ITS Glossary, list of acronyms, and a brief project background. Project reports, documentation, and presentations are available by clicking on the Reading Room tab.
